Park in the designated area, turn right, you will see two lanes in front of you, take the lane on the left - there is a field gate at the bottom of the lane, don't panic you do not need to cross the field - the centre is to the left of the field gate.

A special shelter has been built for the conservation of the late medieval carved stone grave slabs.  Information Boards around the shelter tell the history of the Abbey and one gives an impression of what it may have looked like...

Just opposite Saddell Abbey Centre, there is an entrance to Saddell Castle and Saddell Bay - the Castle is not open to the public, but it is a lovely long walk to the bay.  Also ideal for cyclists.  Saddell Bay is a quiet, fine shell beach, just right for a relaxing walk or a quiet picnic.

This is the beach where Paul & Linda McCartney (Wings) filmed the video for his hit song "Mull of Kintyre" back in the 70's, accompanied by Campbeltown Pipe band.

Saddell Castles, said to be haunted - arn't they all ?
