Tarbert is a small
fishing village with a picturesque harbour. It hosts the
famous Seafood Festival during the summer and the Sailing Series
in May. Remains of Tarbert
Castle stands majestically over the harbour, display panels give
historical information.
Walks can be made from Tarbert Castle:-
Castle Walk
(moderate) - red way markers - 1 mile allow 45 minutes.
Corranbuie Walk
(demanding) - blue way markers - 3 miles allow 2 hours.
Tarbert - Skipness
Walk (moderate) - yellow
way markers - 9 miles (11 miles to Claonaig) allow 4-5 hours.
Tarbert Castle also marks the start of the
Kintyre Way
87 miles, there are turquoise
markers throughout the route, allow several days. The route
ends at Dunaverty/Southend, but
sections can be walked in various locations.
